LA SOLITUDE

The beauty of this work stands in the harmony between a squared room and a circle of water. It consists in the artist being everyday for all the time of the exhibition doing nothing, literally nothing.

The real piece of art in fact would not be the man in the center surrounded by solitude, but in the people that rather than getting wet and helping the lonely man, they watch it, they film it, they talk about it. But everyone sees the man and everyone can see his solitude.

In the last 4 to 5 days I’d engage a stuntman that would come inside the circle and that would bring me hand by hand outside the circle. Obviously the last days the “cage” would be empty.

These dynamics, that in the work of art are being enlarged, are dynamics that you can see  everyday. A colleague that feels sick, a homeless person, a friend who you know is depressed but does nothing to help him…

“The Solitude '' represents in short a cross-section of our society, the one we oftentimes hide under the carpet.
